To display the Port Settings window, choose Configure
> Port Settings.
The Port Settings window provides configuration settings for the
switch ports. These settings determine how the switch ports forward
data to the devices to which they are connected. You can change
these settings to fit your network needs.
You can sort the contents in each table column either alphabetically
or numerically. To sort a table column, click the column heading.
To save any changes that you make in this window, click Submit.
To discard any unsaved changes, click Cancel.

Explanation |
Port |
The number of the switch port, including port type (such
as Fa for Fast Ethernet and Gi for Gigabit Ethernet), the
module slot number (0, 1, or 2), and the specific port number.
Note that:
- EtherSwitch service module port 1/0/2, for 16-port, 24-port, and 24-port stackwise modules, provides an internal 1000-Mbps
connection.
- EtherSwitch service module port 1/0/4, for 48-port modules, provides an internal 1000-Mbps
connection.
|
Enabled |
The state of the switch port. Check Enabled
to enable the port. Uncheck Enabled to administratively
(manually) shut down the port. |
Speed |
The operating speed of the switch port. Choose the speed
from the drop-down list. You can choose Auto (autonegotiation)
if the connected device can negotiate the link speed with
the switch port.
The default settings are:
- 1000 for the internal 1000-Mbps ports.
- 1000 for the external 1000-Mbps ports (SFP).
- Auto for the external 10/100-Mbps Fast Ethernet ports.
- Auto for the external Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 (10/100/1000-Mbps) ports.
Notes:
- The speed on the internal ports is nonconfigurable.
- Flow control does not apply to the internal ports.
|
Duplex |
The duplex mode of the switch port. Choose the duplex mode
from the drop-down list:
- Auto (autonegotiation) if the connected device can
negotiate with the switch
- Full (full duplex) if both devices can send data
at the same time
- Half (half duplex) if one or both devices cannot send data
at the same time
The default settings are:
- Full for the internal 1000-Mbps ports.
- Full for the external 1000-Mbps ports (SFP).
- Auto for the external 10/100-Mbps Fast Ethernet ports.
- Auto for the external Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 (10/100/1000-Mbps) ports.
Notes:
- The duplex mode on internal ports is nonconfigurable.
- You cannot set the port to half duplex if the port speed
is set to Auto.
