To accelerate the initial installation programming of system level parameters, a simple tool entitled “Startup Profile” can be used to quickly bring the BCM50 network element to a basic operational and “ready to customize” state without using Element Manager or set-based administration.

Constructed as a well-defined, easy-to-use template that can be data-filled using Microsoft Excel, the Startup profile provides a quick interface for defining parameters such as:

  • system profile such as country, telephony template and key Voicemail attributes
  • system IP parameters
  • system level telephony attributes to automatically create the system DNs
  • feature licensing information through automated application of the feature licensing file
  • users and groups

By filling out the template, saving this onto a USB memory stick and inserting the memory stick into the USB port of the BCM50 on the initial boot up of the system, all of this information will be read into the BCM50 and applied through a single restart sequence.

The Startup Profile is similar in content and intent to the Quickstart Profile of the BCM200 and BCM400, but can be datafilled and applied without requiring either an IP connection to the unit or a PC or telephone set input device, executes much more quickly, and includes a broader scope of system level parameters.
