Creating a CS1000 LinuxBase or Application DVD for COTS Servers --------------------------------------------------------------- Please read this document in its entirety before attempting to create the CS1000 LinuxBase DVD or the CS1000 Application DVD. The CS1000 LinuxBase DVD is used to install and upgrade the operating system and a set of basic Base Applications. Refer to the system documentation for installation instructions. A single ".iso" file is provided to create the LinuxBase DVD. This file is a ready-to-burn ISO9660 CD image that will create a DVD that is bootable according to the El Torito specification. You must use DVD writer software that can create a DVD from this image (see Examples below). As the DVD image is pre-configured, your software will automatically create a bootable CS1000 LinuxBase DVD. See your software's help pages for specific instructions on creating a DVD from an ISO file. The CS1000 Application DVD can be used to upload the CS1K Applications into the deployment manager. Refer to the system documentation for detailed instructions on how to upload and deploy applications. A single ".iso" file is provided to create the Application DVD. This file is a ready-to-burn ISO9660 CD image that will create a DVD which contains the required ".nai" application archive. You must use DVD writer software that can create a DVD from this image (see Examples below). See your software's help pages for specific instructions on creating a DVD from an ISO file. DOs and DON'Ts -------------- - DO NOT de-compile the ISO file or extract files from it. - DO NOT write the ISO file to the DVD. (When you have created a DVD from the DVD image, the DVD will contain several directories and files.) - DO NOT use drag-and-drop to copy the ISO file to the DVD, as this may result in a file copy and a resulting Software DVD that does not work. To avoid this potential problem, it is recommended that you use your software's menu option to process the ISO file (see Examples below). - DO select your software's option to "burn a DVD image" or "create a DVD from a DVD image". - DO use DVD-R blank media. - DO select the disk-at-once write option. - DO select to close or finalize the DVD after the burn session (if available). - DO label the DVD after you have created it. (http://www.sonic.com/) =============================================================== Using the CS1000 Application ".nai" File ---------------------------------------- The cS1000 Application ".nai" file is a compressed archive of all the CS1000 Application RPMs. This file must be uploaded to the Deployment Manager (DM) interface, which can be accomplished either via creating an Application DVD (as mentioned above) or by downloading the ".nai" file directly to your PC. For detailed instructions on how to upload the ".nai" file, using either method, refer to the system documentation on how to upload and deploy applications. ========================================
