ISSUES ADDRESSED ON THIS RELEASE: ------------------------------- 1) The application now supports Helmsman document collections built with either version of the Verity indexer: 221 or 403. When a collection is accessed, the application will automatically determine the collection version, then will open it. No user intervention is needed. 2) A new license agreement is displayed during installation, the user must accept the licence agreement before continuing with the installation. 3) Acrobat Reader 5.0.8 is now packaged with the application. Adobe Exchange will no longer be shipped with the Helmsman Unix Client. 4) During installation the user will be asked if Adobe Exchange or Reader is installed on the system. If Exchange is installed it will be used by the Helmsman Unix Client to display the PDF documents. 5) Highlighting will not be supported with Acrobat Reader. Highlighting will only be supported if Exchange is installed and configured during installation. If Reader is already installed on the system or the packaged version is installed during installation, the Go To Page function will be disabled in the Occurrences page, an Open button will be displayed instead, which will lauch Reader. The Next and Previous buttons will not be displayed if Reader is configured in the system. A dialog will be displayed when the user double clicks on the a page occurrence explaining that Go to page is disabled when Reader is configured in Helmsman. KNOWN ISSUES: ------------- 1) Adobe does not support HP-UX 11.0. 2) Closing Adobe Exchange with the system button (upper left in window), does not gracefully close that session of the application. This will usually result in a process. 3) Application reported to be considerably slower when running on HPUX 11.0. 4) Having CAPS LOCK on, acts as if the SHIFT KEY is depressed in multi-selections lists. 5) The main window is opened at it's optimal size. Solaris version can be made larger (up to full screen). HP version can not be resized. 6) In text asterisk searches are not working correctly. (3rd party - Verity). 7) Some status and error dialogs are oversized. (3rd party - Zinc). 8) Selections in Open Collections Dialog are not retained when dialog is opened again. (3rd Party - Zinc). 9) The Open Document to First Page option is not working properly. Documents will always open to the first search occurrence (unless accessed from the Search Occurrence dialog). 10) Copying a Word List term to the Search Editor will cause highlights in documents when no search has been initiated. 11) Select Document Properties from a Local collection document and the server row reads "unsupported message". 12) Adobe internal error occurs the 2nd time and attempt is made to open an 11th document. Select OK to close the error message, close one document and another one can then be opened. 13) Data source change not detected after invalid path message is generated from Preferences. 14) Word List does not "come to front" after a search is initiated. 15) Adobe window size features on Document Viewer tab in Helmsman do not work. Adobe window can be resized from within Adobe. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES: -------------------- 1) There is not a need to setup any directory structure for any user. The new helmsman script takes care of any needed directories and/or files in the user's home directory. 2) It is suggested that some form of lp -c is used for printing. 3) Use /helmsman/helmclient/bin/helmsman_cd_copy.ksh to copy a collection from the cdrom to the hard drive. 4) User must set DISPLAY environment variable. 5) It is suggested that /helmsman/helmclient/bin be added to system's or user's PATH environment variable. 6) Application supports UNIX workstations and X-Terms only (no X-Windows emulation on the PC is supported). 7) If you are a Helmsman 2.7 user, it is suggested that you set the absolute paths with the start command or rename the 2.7 executable.
