Assigning and suspending administrative privileges

If you are maintaining a staff of specialized administrators, you might need to update the administrative staff by creating specialized administrators.

What you need to know to assign administrative privileges

Caution! You cannot assign administrative privileges to a mailbox owner on a remote server.

To assign administrative privileges to an existing mailbox owner

User > User Search

    1. Execute a search for the mailbox owner who will perform administrative tasks.

    2. Scroll to the Admin settings.

    3. In the Administration Type list, click one of the following:

    4. Ensure that each of the administrative privileges required to carry out assigned tasks is enabled.

    5. Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click Save.

To suspend administrative privileges

User > User Search

    1. Execute a search for the mailbox owner who will perform administrative tasks.

    2. Scroll to the Admin settings.

    3. In the Administration Type list, click None.
      Note/Tip To reinstate administrative privileges, you do not have to re-select each type of administrative rights
      . You can simply change the administration type back to "User With Some Administration Rights."

    4. Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click Save.
