Enabling off-switch calls

To enable mailbox owners to send messages to DNs that are off the local switch, you must:

Connectivity restrictions

Only the Meridian 1 switch and the Succession 1000 switch can capture an external CLID with an unknown format and then translate unknown dialing numbers into a default DN. For all other switch types, the controls relating to CLID and the translation table are preset and disabled.

To enable off-switch calls

Messaging > Dialing Information

  1. Locate the Dialing Defaults settings.

  2. In the Local Prefix box, type the prefix users must dial to make a local call.

  3. In the Long Distance Prefix box, type the prefix users must dial to make a long distance call.

  4. In the International Prefix box, type the prefix users must dial to make an international call.

  5. In the ESN Access Code box, type the prefix users must dial to make a call on the private ESN network.

  6. Locate the Public Telephone Network Information settings.

  7. In the Local country code box, type the code that identifies the local area or city in which your switch is located.

  8. In the Local area/city code box, type the code that identifies the country in which your switch is located.

  9. For Meridian 1 or Succession 1000 connectivities only:

    1. Locate the Unknown Format Handling settings.

    2. To configure CallPilot to collect calling numbers from unknown dialing plans, ensure there is a check mark in the Capture External CLID with Unknown Format box.

  10. From the Default Translation list, select Local, National, International, ESN, or <None> to define how your system will treat unknown dialing numbers.

  11. If your local switch must handle mixed area codes, define dialing translation codes.

  12. Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click Save.
