Where customers call a common phone number for a group (for example, a help desk), the number does not dial a phoneset where the mailbox number matches the first extension DN. Instead, the number dials each phoneset that belongs to a group member. Example
Any constraints regarding the size of the group are dependent on the switch.
If MWI DNs are configured for all mailboxes associated with the phoneset, the message waiting indicator does not show which mailbox has a new message.
You can assign message waiting indication to each individual
by using the switch MWI By DN
feature if both of the following are true:
you are using Meridian 1 or Succession 1000 connectivity
X11 software release 24 (or higher) is installed on the switch
You can configure remote notification
of messages if both of the following are true:
group members have remote notification enabled
group members have either a shared wireless device or need to be notified off-site of help desk messages.
You can configure remote text notification
of waiting messages.
Success of the MWI DN configuration depends on switch
configuration options that vary from one software version to another.
If the MWI DN options that you configure do not work, refer to the CallPilot Installation
and Configuration Task List.
The group is defined as a mailbox owner on the switch as well as the CallPilot server.
Each member of the group is defined as a mailbox owner on the switch as well as the CallPilot server. Example
User > User Search
Locate the Mailbox settings.
In the Mailbox Number box, type the mailbox number assigned to the mailbox group.
Locate the DNs settings.
For each group member: In the Extension DN 1 box, type the mailbox number assigned to the mailbox group.
In the Callback DN box, type the mailbox number assigned to the group.
Configure the MWI strategy for the group:
If there is an MWI DN configured on the switch that maps to an MWI device for each group member, type that DN.
If message notification is handled only by remote notification or remote text notification, leave the MWI DN box blank.
If there is a pager or cell phone shared by group members: Configure remote notification to the shared device.
If group members need to be notified off-site of help desk messages, you have the following options:
Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click Save.
It is not necessary to customize the mailboxes of group members.
