A security protocol developed by Microsoft to provide privacy between a client and server application, and to authenticate the server and (optionally) the client. PCT has been superseded by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 3.0 and the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.
Internet Explorer is the only browser that supports this protocol.
