Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

A security protocol developed by Netscape for encrypting data communication between two points in a network. SSL uses a combination of public and secret keys to secure communications.

The Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol is based on SSL.

Security certificates (a requirement of SSL) are automatically generated and installed when SSL is enabled in CallPilot. Certificate regeneration is automatically handled. Certificate import is not supported. Certificates expire at midnight, one year after the day they were created. At the time of expiry, active messaging clients using SSL are disconnected then reconnected immediately upon making use of new certificates.
