VPIM Networking

A networking solution that uses a TCP/IP network (instead of a switch network) to transmit voice, fax, and text messages between users at different servers in a messaging network.

VPIM Networking uses the Voice Profile for Internet Mail (VPIM) standard that profiles Internet mail for voice messaging. The VPIM profile of the Internet-standard  Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) and Extended Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (ESMTP) facilitates a reliable exchange of voice mail via standard e-mail over corporate intranets or the Internet.

Messages can be exchanged with users at integrated sites, which are part of your private messaging network, as well as with users who are at open sites that are VPIM-compliant.
