FastRAD Firmware Upgrade for Modular ICS 4.0

Condition This firmware update allows the older FastRADs 
(Shipped prior to 1/25/99.) 
to be updated to allow the answering of target lines calls on Primary Rate ISDN (PRI) in MICS 4.0.  
Without this firmware the FastRAD will not answer target lines over PRI. 
You may also experience this problem with target lines coming in over T1 with lines configured for E&M operation.

Special Notes  

Use this Firmware ONLY ON THE FASTRADS !! 

This upgrade is only necessary for sites with PRI. 

Do not change communications parameters during the firmware upgrade.

Installation Instructions 

  To create the update, download:  fastrad.exe to your hard drive. 

Run fastrad.exe. This will extract two files onto your PC. (upgrade.exe and upgrade.hex) 

It is important to leave the two files above in the same directory on your PC. 

Run upgrade.exe and Click OK. 

Connect the FastRad to an available COM port on your PC. 
  
  Use a straight through cable to connect to the RAD. 
DO NOT use the cable configured for direct connection to the RAD! 

Don't plug the power cable in yet. 

From the RAD upgrade tool select your COM port and choose a speed of 19200 baud. 

In the RAD upgrade tool Select File then Connect. 

Now plug the power cable into the FastRAD. 

This will initiate the upgrade. During the process, 
dots will move across the screen, indicating data transfer. 
If you do not see this within a few seconds, check your cable and connections. 
Remember, you cannot use the cable configured for direct connection to the RAD. 

The upgrade takes about 6 minutes and when its complete the RAD Upgrade tool gives you the status. 

If the upgrade fails for any reason repeat this process. 

It will be necessary to reconfigure the RAD after this procedure
