Run Startup.exe to install software. If you wish to add or remove ICS Tools , YOU MUST DEINSTALL any existing installation of ICS Tools completely, then reinstall with desired options. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.0 Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP requirements NOTE(a): Microsoft Excel version 7 (Office 95) or 8 (Office 97) or (Office 2000) is required for operation of the Off-line Programming tool. Excel 5 (Office 4.2) can also be used, but the Acquire ICS or Program ICS dialog should be minimized,or else Excel will stall. To run the Off-line programming tool, you must run Excel, then open the ICSRT\WORKBOOK\NAICS2.XLS Please see NRU 11.0 documentation for more information. NOTE(b): Windows 3.1 OS is no more supported for NRU tools. NOTE(C): Norstar manager is no more supported. If you are managing systems that are running software earlier than version 2.0, ensure that you maintain a copy of Norstar Manager on your system to manage those systems. A) 32 MBytes RAM B) 36 MBytes virtual memory (or more). C) Disk space requirements : NOTE: Do not install any NRU components to root directories. 20 Mbytes is required to install Norstar ICS Remote Tools. - 0.5 Mbytes per Norstar Remote Tools customer backup/archive. ICS Off-line Programming: - 12 to 18 Mbytes for MS Excel installation - 6 to 8 Mbytes per ICS Workbook. 1.5 Mbytes is required to install Norstar Voice Mail Manager 3.0 1.5 Mbytes is required to install Norstar Voice Mail Manager 4.0 3.1 Install Preparation Make sure that you have at least 100 Mbytes of disk space available. It is not recommended to run any applications while installing, so exit all applications first. Cleanup of the temporary directory before installing is recommended (usually C:\WINDOWS\TEMP). ICS Tools directory (default C:\Program Files\Nortel Networks\ICSRT ) should be uninstalled and deleted; this can be done automatically from within the setup program or from the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs feature. Excel must be installed from Office 95 (Excel 7), Office 97 (Excel 8) or Office 2000, Office 4.2 (Excel 5). Rebooting PC before install if NRU was in use is recommended. Rebooting PC after successful NRU install is recommended. 3.2 NRU Upgrade Norstar ICS Tools Upgrade: Uninstall previous installation of the Norstar Remote Tools. See NRU Uninstalls below. If you had a field trial release of Norstar Remote Tools 4.0, 5.0, or 6.0, it is recommended that you uninstall this prior to installation. See Field Trial upgrade issues below. If you wish to add or remove ICS Tools, you must deinstall any existing installation of ICS Tools, then reinstall with desired options. 3.3 NRU Uninstalls Norstar ICS Remote Tools can be uninstalled via the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs Properties. There is an automatic uninstallation provided with the setup program. It locates previously installed versions and offers to remove the programs you have selected for installation. Please note that Norstar ICS Remote Tools MUST be uninstalled prior to installing any new version. Customer databases and backups will not be removed by uninstall. Note that user created files and directories will have to be removed manually. You may want to copy your original customer database along with the corresponding directories and files if you wish to keep them after uninstalling. NOTE: It is important to uninstall Norstar ICS tools before installing, otherwise manual deletion of these files is required. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.0 Field Trial upgrade issues It is recommended to uninstall earlier NRU 4.0, NRU5.0, NRU6.0, NRU8.x or NRU9.xrelease prior to installation. The temporary directories should be cleaned up prior to install (usually C:\TEMP or C:\WINDOWS\TEMP). Manually delete all the files in the ICSRT (or wherever NRUSHELL.EXE was installed). Delete the NRU.INI file in the directory and empty the recycle bin. NOTE: Manual cleanup of the Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP registry may be required if multiple installs were performed with NRU trial releases. Norstar ICS tools may not update or uninstall fully if this is not done. If you have never used the Registry editor before, it is recommended that you get your system administrator to perform this: - From Start menu - Run - type REGEDIT - Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - Microsoft - Windows - SharedDLLs (or search for SHDLLSRV, one of the shared files registered) - Delete ONLY the following NRU specific entries: AGNTCFR.DLL, AGNTENG.DLL, CMCFR.DLL, CMCOMM16.DLL, CMDAEMON.EXE, CMENG.DLL, LISEZMOI.WRI, NRTAIDE.WRI, NRTHELP.WRI, NRUIFCE.EXE, NRUSHELL.EXE, OP32CFR.DLL, OP32ENG.DLL, PCSERIAL.DLL, PCSOCKET.DLL, PCSRCFR.DLL, PCSRENG.DLL, README.WRI, SHCFR.DLL, SHDLLSRV.EXE, SHENG.DLL, SHEXEC.DLL, CONFIG\\BR.INI, CONFIG\\BW.INI, CONFIG\\CMDAEMON.INI, CONFIG\\LANGUAGE.INI, CONFIG\\OLP.INI, CONFIG\\RADAGENT.INI, CONFIG\\RST.INI - Exit the Registry Editor - Reboot machine, now you are ready to install. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 Install Troubbleshooting 5.1 Self extracting EXE install fails. Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP; - Make sure all Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP requirements are met (see above). - Make sure \TEMP directory is cleaned up. - Make sure you have lots of disk space (100 Mbytes should be sufficient). - Do not run any background applications while installing. - Run Scandisk. - If the above does not work, the EXE file is probably corrupted. Download again (make sure download is in binary format). 5.2 Map file required error when running ICS Tools - Map file may be missing or corrupted. See ICS Tools documentation for more information on map files. - New map files may be required for newer systems. 5.3 OLP does not display ICS menu - For the OLP tool to work, the Security level for the Macros should be set to Medium. This can be set by following the link in the Excel sheet: Tools -> Macro -> Security -> Security Level 5.4 NRU does not launch properly - To launch the NRU application, the user/login must have atleast enough previleges so as to read/write into the Registry.
