Desktop messaging e-mail clients use LDAP to obtain information about CallPilot users such as name, mailbox number, e-mail address, or department.
You can set the following options:
enable or disable LDAP service
enable or disable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption
specify an authentication method
view the LDAP search base to determine which entries appear in the CallPilot address book
You may want to temporarily disable LDAP service in the event of a security breach.
Messaging > Internet Mail Clients
In the LDAP section, do one of the following:
To enable LDAP service, check Enable LDAP.
To disable LDAP service, clear Enable LDAP.
Click Save.
Disabling LDAP service prevents all desktop messaging
users from downloading the CallPilot address book or searching for address
information in the address book. When you disable LDAP service, all current
connections from desktop messaging clients to the LDAP server are disconnected.
Messaging > Internet Mail Clients
In the LDAP section, check Enable LDAP with SSL port to encrypt communication between the CallPilot LDAP server and desktop messaging clients.
If you choose to enable SSL, ensure that
user e-mail clients are also configured to use the same security options,
including the correct port
number.
Select the required LDAP authentication options. You can select more than one option. For a description of the various authentication modes, see Security for server communications.
Enable LDAP with Plain Password Authentication - If you check this option only, mailbox owners must log on to the LDAP server to access the CallPilot address book. If this option is enabled, ensure that e-mail clients are configured to log on to the LDAP server.
To prevent users of supported Internet mail
clients from establishing more than one connection with the CallPilot
server, disable LDAP with plain password authentication.
Enable LDAP with No Authentication - Check this option to allow all LDAP clients on the network to access the CallPilot address book on the LDAP server.
Click Save.
