Event throttling lets you control the frequency with which the same event is recorded by the event log and appears in the Event Browser, Alarm Monitor, and Windows Event Viewer. Throttling prevents the Event Browser and Alarm Monitor pages, the Windows Event Viewer, and the event logs from becoming overcrowded.
System > Event Browser
From the Event Browser
list box (the box just beneath the Event Browser title bar), change the
selection from All Filtered Events
to Only Customized Events.
The Event Browser page changes as follows:
A list of customized events appears if any have been created. If none have been created, then no events are listed.
The following new buttons appear above the event columns: New, Delete Selected, and System Throttling.
New is
used to customize a specific event,
including assigning throttling parameters to a specific event. To set
throttling parameters for all events, continue with this procedure.
Click System
Throttling.
The Default System Throttling page appears.
To turn on throttling, choose Enable Throttling.
Specify the Interval
and Number values.
These values determine how often (Number) any event appears in a specified
time period (Interval).
Example
If you specify 3 as the Number and 60 as the Interval, then any event
(for example, 40562) can appear only three times in the Event Browser
or Windows Event Viewer in any 60-minute time period. If the event actually
occurs five times in a 60-minute time period, the event is displayed only
three times.
Click Save.
The "Only Customized Events" view of the Event Browser appears.
From the
Event Browser list box (the box just beneath the Event Browser title bar),
choose All Filtered Events.
The normal view of the Event Browser appears. Changes in System Throttling
begin from this point, and are not retroactive.
